The design response focuses on restoring the historical elements of the building, particularly the iconic Morshead of Ballarat brick façade, which had been obscured by cladding for many decades.
By carefully integrating these heritage elements with contemporary architectural designs, the renovation strikes a balance between preserving the building’s historical identity and introducing modern aesthetics.
Internally, the redesign enhances the building’s layout to provide improved amenities for both tenants and visitors. The updated floor plan optimises space for retail and hospitality purposes, ensuring better functionality and flow throughout the venue.
This revitalisation project aligns with the City of Ballarat Urban Renewal Plan, including the Bridge Mall redevelopment as a catalyst project of the Bakery Hill precinct.
