The visionary master plan, transforms the former Port Stanvac Oil Refinery site in Lonsdale as a thriving, community-focused destination. The plan opens up previously inaccessible stretches of Adelaide’s coastline, including stunning beaches and coastal reserves, offering public access for the first time. The site will be seamlessly connected to the community.

The 230-hectare development will feature:

  • Approximately 3,600 new homes, with at least 15% allocated as affordable housing.
  • Approximately 40 hectares of protected coastal land.
  • Public beach access
  • Completing the Coast Trail, joining 70km of shared paths from North Haven to Sellicks Beach.
  • Sporting fields for community use.
  • A mixed-use precinct with shopping, business, entertainment, and recreational facilities.
  • Employment, Industrial, logistical, warehousing, storage, research, and training spaces.
  • Convenient access to Lonsdale Railway Station.

Designed with environmental sustainability at its core, the master plan emphasises green corridors, open spaces, and a connected network of streets and pathways to enhance pedestrian, vehicle, and cycling access.

Key features include:

  • A network of public open spaces, offering playing fields, lawns, and recreational areas, with an aspiration of 12.5% open space.
  • A coastal reserve that celebrates cultural and environmental values, linking to existing coastal paths.
  • An ambitious tree canopy coverage target to establish a vibrant and sustainable public realm.
  • Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) to ensure best practices in streetscape design and pedestrian safety.

This project blends residential, commercial, and recreational elements with a strong commitment to protecting the coastal environment, creating a dynamic, connected space for the future of Adelaide.

We have an incredible opportunity to breathe new life into the region and open up a unique part of Adelaide’s coastline to the community.
MAB is committed to working with all stakeholders to plan and deliver a contemporary mixed-use master planned precinct that creates new lifestyle and employment options for the local community.

Port Stanvac is one of the most naturally beautiful parts of Adelaide and is a once in a generation housing project. This will deliver a great result – more homes, better amenity, and an opportunity to complete a coastal walkway – providing significant benefits to those who live to the north and south.
