An historic transformation is underway. The Gasworks is entering a new era, with a bold vision to revitalise a legacy-rich site into a vibrant urban village that blends heritage, sustainability and community.

The Gasworks will deliver over 800 new homes for Adelaide, comprising of a mix of Apartments, Townhouses, Nightingale Housing, and affordable housing.

At the heart of the community will sit the Heritage Precinct. A restoration of The Gasworks structures including the heritage-listed Retort House, chimney stack, tunnels and Chief Street Wall.

These existing structures will house a hotel, employment hub and an integrated commercial and retail offering. A development that celebrates elements of modern architecture while ensuring the integrity and energy of the space’s rich past lives on.

Paying respect to the importance of open spaces in urban developments, 25% of The Gasworks will be transformed into large, high quality and interconnected public spaces including parks, gardens and play spaces. It’s a pledge that includes substantial investment into the public infrastructure, including bike paths, walkways, and nearby trains and tram stops. Making it easier for residents to get to where they need to go conveniently.

As with all FORUM projects, sustainability has acted as the guiding light to the architectural approach of The Gasworks site. The development achieves a 6 Star Green Star community rating which represents ‘World Leadership’ in environmentally sustainable practices. And in a South Australian first, all power across the project will be delivered via 100% renewable energy provided through rooftop solar.
